A Sanctuary No More
Posted On Wednesday April 11, 2007 By Chuck
The Sanctuary was my favorite vegetarian restaurant in Manhattan and the place I met my now partner on our first date. I believe it was run by Hare Krishnas. They had the biggest variety of dishes from all over the world, and I never had one I didn’t like. However, the Aloo Gobi was by far my favorite. When I lived in the general area I went there once a week. They were always busy. It never occurred to me that they might one day close. I moved uptown and I didn’t get to visit as often. Then one day I went back with my partner and they were closed. It’s been out of business for a while now but the space is still unoccupied. The fact that it’s still sort of there, sort of not, is all the more distressing to me.

Hello, My name is KD and I am the Owner and the Manager of the Sanctuary. I had to close due to Health reason and my ex-wife’s mis-conduct as well. Thanks for your support. I hope we open it again soon in the very near future. Take care. KD

Hi KD, I’m sorry to hear about your health problems and I hope one day that you can re-open the Sanctuary. It truly was a special place for me and I know others who felt the same way. Some of my friends from out of town would always insist that we go there when they came to visit, and they were not even vegetarians. Good luck to you and please let us know here if you re-open.
