Milwaukee County Stadium
Posted On Wednesday March 28, 2007 By Dan
Billy Bruton, Jack Ditmar, Johnny Logan, Eddie Matthews, Del Crandel, Joe Adcock, Warren Spahn, Andy Pafco, Wes Covington, Lew Burdette. I watched them play at Milwaukee County Stadium for the home team Braves as a young teenager. Sometimes I walked many miles to get there for day game doubleheaders and sometimes I took a late night bus ride after an exciting extra inning battle. I always sat in the left center field bleachers for 50 cents and no, I didn’t forget Henry Aaron. The crack of “Hammerin Hank’s” bat always brought excitement to that area. Thrilling is the best word to describe the many times spent in that ball park.

I miss the giant beer stein. I have a snow globe of MCS that was a give-away at one of the final games there. Unfortunately the glue has deteriorated so the stadium is free-floating and the water has turned brown. But I’ll never throw it out.

bring back the beer mug. I remember going to the games with my dad and bernie sliding down into the mug was by far my favorite part. Yeah the new celebration is exciting, but it lacks the tradition and feel that the chalet, barrel, and mug had.
